ICC awards start from this year

From this year onwards, individual as well as team performances in Tests and one-day internationals will get official recognition by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in the form of the ICC Awards.

The awards — to be known as the Hyundai ICC Awards — established for all international Test and one-day players, would be given away at a gala ceremony in London on September 7 when the teams assemble for the ICC Champions Trophy.

A voting panel of up to 50 cricket luminaries, including present captains, match referees, umpires and distinguished former players, would be set up to vote on the individual awards and would take into account the performance in the period between August 1, 2003 to July 31, 2004.
