CHANDIGARH, Oct 1: The week-long Durga Puja celebrations concluded here today with the immersion of idols in the Ghaggar river in Panchkula.

The idols of goddesses Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati, and gods Ganesha and Kartick were immersed in the waters of Ghaggar.

A procession was taken out by Bangiya Sanskritik Sammalini before the idols were immersed. Several Bengali associations had organised cultural programmes during the week-long celebrations.

Large queues were seen outside the temples in the City on the occasion of the ninth navratras also known as Ram Nvami. Many people fast during the navratras.
