There’s a new TV serial with your name (Kareena Kareena). How does that make you feel?I feel very important. Whenever I switch on Zee TV, I hear only my name. The kids in my building are also freaking out, they think it’s my serial and that I’ve made it. I guess, it just goes to show that somewhere the audience identifies with my name. In the forthcoming Aitraaz, you play a traditional Indian woman fighting to clear her husband’s name. Is this an attempt to change your glam image?I have complete faith in Abbas-Mustan. I didn’t even hear the script, the fact that Subhash Ghai called me for the role was enough. It’s a challenging role and a very positive character. Irrespective of the film’s fate, Kareena’s image will change. After watching this film, every man will wish he had a wife like her and every woman will wish that she could be a wife like her. Why is the Aitraaz publicity campaign so Priyanka Chopra-centric?I think it’s great that they have stuck to the plot. Priyanka is the crux of the movie, the plot starts with her. So why not? Anyway, I don’t think that just because someone has more star value, you should put him or her on the posters. That doesn’t work. The audience wants to know what the film is about. What if in real life, a siren tried to seduce your husband? If my husband cheats on me then I will dump him, and if a woman tried to rape my husband, then I will kill her and go to jail. (Laughs) How are things between you and boyfriend Shahid Kapoor?Oh, Shahid and I are great. He’s busy working and is really excited about John Mathew Mathan’s film. We are both really busy but very happy to be together. Do you ever get insecure about Shahid, given that the film world is filled with temptations?Oh yeah. I won’t lie and say that I am not insecure. I do have my days. But I am very confident about my man. Shahid is a very different kind of a guy. He’s gone through a lot in his personal life and he just wants a good relationship and a happy home. I know that Shahid loves me too much to hurt me. Akshaye Khanna and you seem to have a mutual admiration society going.I am absolutely in love with Akshaye. I think we rock in Hulchul. We share an amazing chemistry. I’ve always had a huge crush on him and have always been a little in love with him. We hear that Salman Khan is smitten too.Salman dreads working with me. I was nine years old when I first met him, and wearing a nightie of all things! Lolo (Karisma) was doing Jaagruti with him; I went up to Salman and said that one day I am going to become a big star and work with you. I am really looking forward to working with him. We have three films together. You are soon going to be a masi.Yeah, too many good things are happening to me, na. I’ll be a great masi. I’ve told Karisma that the baby will accompany me to all my film shoots. And if it’s a girl, then she just has to be a star. You’ve been working non-stop for the last four years. Aren’t you tired?I will be taking a six-month break very soon. I’ll just stop working, I’m going to make everyone starve for me.
