What prompted you to turn Bollywood producer with Paisa Vasool?
I needed something to challenge me. Besides, what better way to feed the love of cinema than by producing a good, fun film. I’m also launching my brother Siddharth in Raja Dil Ka Ghulam. Now I think I am ready for direction.

Why did you pick Sushmita Sen for your film?
The moment I heard the script, I thought only of Sush. I’d seen her in Biwi No 1 and could sense that she has a good comic sense. While doing the film—it’s the story of two girls who get into a lot of mischief—Sush and me bonded big-time.

Has Sushmita influenced you in any way? Do you want to adopt like her?
Honestly speaking, I’ve wanted to adopt for a long time. Cecil (her boyfriend) and me have been talking about it, but he feels that we should first have a couple of kids ourselves and then adopt. Since he’s probably the man I will settle down with, I am going with what he wants.

Does your personal life get more column space than your career?
Definitely. The glares have been much sharper on my lifestyle and love life than my work. But I guess, you’ve got to get used to being talked about.

But it must get hard sometimes, like when they comment on the size of your thighs.
Yeah, I know. Lots of people have commented on my weight but I don’t get hurt. But now that I’ve lost weight, nobody is saying that I look good.

You were doing great with Khamoshi, Bombay and Dil Se. Then what went wrong?
You do good films and you do bad ones. Sometimes you sign films for money. It’s a cycle. By the second day of the shooting, I know whether it’s a good or bad film. But you can’t do anything about it.

Any plans to join politics?
As of today, it’s not my cup of tea. Once I achieve everything in films, maybe then I’ll think about it. I can get into politics any time because of my family.
