NEW DELHI, September 29: TISCO notched up their second successive win when they outclassed Border Security Force 81-65 in group B while holders Punjab Police, propelled by Parminder Singh's brilliance, made short work of Indian Navy in their group A game in the all-India Master Prithvi Nath Sharma memorial basketball tournament at the floodlit Ajmal Khan Park here yesterday. In another group B game, Army Cagers, too, socred a second win when they downed Prithvi Nath Club by a comfortable 88-54 margin. In the women's round-robin league, Eastern Railway (Calcutta) staged a remarkable recovery to outwit Central Railway (Mumbai) 54-48. The winners trailed 11-22 at the break.Captain Jaldeep Dhaliwal and Nishant combined well against a disjointed BSF, particularly when the latter failed miserably against a stiff defence in the second sesson. BSF were doing particularly well in the first session with the teams going neck and neck as they were separated by just five points with Tisco leading 37-32.But the turnaround came once Tisco took to the courts in the second half and Nishant with some excellent shooting in the company of Wasim Khan ran away with a substantial lead. After that BSF were never in a position to catch up with their rivals. But for Punjab Police, it seemed a cakewalk all the way. The Indian Navy were never allowed any elbow room by the tall Gursharn and Gagnesh and Parminder Singh were always under the basket to collect the rebounds and pass on to their colleagues. Though they seemed rusty to begin with, Punjab Police proved too strong for the Navymen.Army Cagers, after their fine outing on the inaugural day, gave a sound warning with their excellent gameplan. The hosts club were foxed by some fast breaks by the Army Cagers. Still, PNC put up a brave fight and must have gained some important lessons. The Railway eves from Mumbai, helped by Jeo Jose and Jigi Jose, were going great guns in the first session, though slowly. But once the second session began, P. Joseph and Rumi Barua changed the complexion of the game with some accurate shooting to leave the Mumbai hoopsters poor losers.Brief scores: Men: Punjab Police 76 (Parminder Singh 32, Gagnesh 18, Gursharan 11) bt Indian Navy 39 (A.P.
