Track legend Carl Lewis has accused anti-doping officials of “lies and cover-ups” to protect athletes. “The sport is losing credibility because people know it is dirty,” Lewis said. “The only answer is to stop the cover-ups,” Lewis said, adding authorities turn a blind eye to many infractions. Lewis said sentences for athletes testing positive should be tougher.

Ronaldo out

Inter Milan’s title hopes suffered a body blow on Sunday night when Brazilian soccer star Ronaldo was ruled out for two months with a twisted right knee. The Brazilian limped off soon after converting a penalty in their crushing 6-0 win over Lecca and tests later revealed he had suffered tendon damage.
