SAD postpones August 1 rally
In view of Chandigarh Administration having exempted women from wearing helmets in the city, the local unit of Shiromani Akali Dal has decided to postpone its proposed protest rally on August 1. According to SAD general secretary Harcharan Singh Sawhney, the postponement of the rally was decided at a meeting held at Sector 23 gurdwara, where the UT Administrator and Punjab Chief Minister were also thanked for exempting women from wearing helmets and thus protecting their religious sentiments.

Librarians to take mass CL on Aug 4
The executive committee of the Confederation of Librarians Associations of Northern India today took strong exception to the non acceptance of the UGC recommended grades for university and college librarians and lecturers. According to a press statement released by I.B. Verma, secretary general of the confederation, they would proceed on mass casual leave on August 4.

Badheri traders meet Commissioner
A delegation of Badheri Market Association, Sector 41-D met Municipal Commissioner S.K. Gathwal to discuss their problems, here today. Their problems included MC raid on pheri shops and alleged misbehaviour with the shopkeepers. The Commissioner assured that their problems would be looked into and that a parking place will be provided in the market, said Avtar Singh, joint secretary, Badheri Market Association in a press release.
Meet Symposium on breast cancer
About 40 eminent experts of breast cancer from all over the country will participate in a two-day consensus symposium to be held from August 1 at PGIMER, informed Dr S.M. Bose, professor, Department of Surgery, PGI in a press release issued here today.
During the symposium, the experts will deliver lectures on the all aspects of breast cancer and later finalise the recommendations for breast cancer management.
A number of surgeons, oncologists, radiotherapists, pathologists and radiologists will participate in the symposium, said Dr Bose.
