Slide presentation on Italian artProfessor Prafulla Janbade today gave a slide presentation on art and architecture of Italy in Government College of Art, Sector 10. Prof Prafulla recently visited Italy on an Italian government scholarship for study and research in architectural restoration, specifically stone restoration. The slides focused on art of Rome, Verona and Venice. Prof Prem Singh, principal of the college, said that such presentations would be made a regular feature.Painting contest organisedThe drawing and painting competition organised by Young Express Club yesterday, at Dominos pizza complex in Sector 17, attracted as many as 250 participants. The contest was held in two categories: one for those below 10 years of age and another above 10 years.Blood donatedThe District Red Cross Society today organised a blood donation camp at the D.A.V Senior Secondary School in Surajpur. According to the president of the society and Deputy Commissioner Vivek Joshi 60 units of blood were donated in this camp. A similar camp will be organised at Barwala by the Red Cross Society on October 1, the Blood Donation Day.Havan performedA havan was performed on the occasion of the 92nd birthday of Swami Krishnanand, president of the All India Hindu Maha Sangh and founder of the Naina Devi Gufa and Sadhu Ashram of Himachal Pradesh. Preeti bhoj was also organised and a meeting of the trustees of Swami Krishna Nand Ashram was held under the chairmanship of Swamiji to consider further maintainence, development and management of the ashram property.
