
SBI customer relations programme
State Bank of India, Sector 37 organised a customer relations programme here today. Senior officers of the bank were present to interact with depositors. SBI General Manager (Development and Personal Banking) R C Agarwala inaugurated an express draft issue counter and a special Income Tax receipt counter.
Youth awakening meetings
The National Youth Federation will hold the first of its Youth Awakening Campaign meetings at Khuda Lahora on October 3 and on October 6, in cooperation with the UT Forest Department. A tree-plantation drive will be launched from village Sarangpur.

Free spectacles to be distributed
To mark the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the District Leprosy Society will distribute fruit to inmates of the Sector 47 Lepers Home and give free spectacles to the needy.
Inter-sector bus service demanded
Panchkula Citizens’ Welfare Association has deplored the "apathy" of the state government towards the needs of the residents of the township as far as an inter-sector bus service was concerned. In a press release president of the association, demanded that the authorities should fix rates charged by rickshaw pullers. An inter-sector bus service was demanded.
Seminar on nuclear issue on Oct 7
A seminar on "Nuclear Tests – need of the day or mere race" will be organised by Panchkula Zila Patrakar Parishad on October 7. Leader of the Opposition in Haryana Assembly Om Prakash Chautala will be the chief guest and B R Jaitely, chief editor of Divya Himachal will preside over the function.
NSS camp held
Talks on Consumer Protection Act and Hepatitis B were held during the NSS camp at the Guru Gobind Sing College for Women, here today. The lecture on Consumer Protection Act, 1986 was delivered by advocate and consumer activist Pankaj Chandgothia. A talk on Hepatitis B was given by Dr Anand of Government Hospital, Sector 16.
Speaking on the occasion Chandgothia said, the consumer today was being fooled in more ways than one – over-charging, adulteration, sub-standard quality of products, under-weighing and misleading advertisements. Emphasis was laid on getting the grievances redressed in consumer courts "free of court fees and hyper-technicalities".
The students were also given practical tips on the filing and conduct of consumer complaints along with a booklet titled "Mini-Consumer Guide".
