KMC firm on water tank
Kolhapur: Despite stiff opposition from residents of Mangalwar Peth, the civic administration today rejected a demand to shift the proposed water storage tank at Padmavati Park. The reason cited was the need to complete the work before November 1999 to comply with an undertaking given to the Bombay High Court.

The anti-water tank protestors today staged demonstrations at Padmavati Park bringing work to a halt. Their contention is that the water tank would damage a play ground.

The issue had its repercussion at the civic standing committee meeting this afternoon. The administration stated that many such tanks were being constructed in the city, as Shinganapur direct water supply scheme was nearing its completion.
