Gadre to take over as KMC chief on Oct 25Kolhapur: Gadhchiroli collector Nitin Gadre will take over as the commissioner of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation from October 25.The post of Kolhapur Municipal Commissioner has fallen vacant after municipal commissioner Dr. S K Sharma proceeded on a year -long study leave after being awarded a scholarship by the Univesity of York in the United Kingdom. District collector Arvind Singh is holding additional charge as the municipal commissioner.Absence of a decision making authority to head the civic administration was especially felt recently as the KMC employees went on strike to press for their demands, when commissioner Dr. Sharma had proceeded on leave and district collector was holding additional charge. Eight of the 12 school board members voted in favour of the move.Earlier in the day, a local court dismissied an application by Kawale seeking an injunction against the motion.Kawale later branded the move and the meeting as undemocratic. She would take up the matter with Chief Minister Manohar Joshi, she said.
