Satara: Police officials and police patils the village level officials who were instrumental in successfully introducing the one-village-one-Ganpati scheme in different parts of Satara will be hounourd by guardian minister Harshvardhan Patil on Wednesday.
The scheme was introduced to as many as 98 villages under 25 police staions in the district this year with active support from District Superintendent of Police Meeran Borwankar.
The one-village-one-Ganpati, now catching up in many parts of western Maharashtra has been aimed at doing away with unneecessary expenditures and social stresses.
Tinted panes to evade octroi
Pune: WITH increasing incidents of octroi evasion by transporters of goods in vehicles having dark window panes, the Pune Municipal Corporation has asked the district collectorate to suspend the permits of such vehicles.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Deepak Kapoor has sent a letter to the district collector Vijaykumar Gautam and has asked to disallow the vehicle owners to use dark panes.
The PMC octroi department yesterday intercepted a Maruti car in which sarees worth Rs 3.72 lakh were being taken at Embroid textiles in Mahaveer Market area. The squad recovered a fine of Rs 1.22 lakh from the owner. In another case, the squad recovered an amount of Rs 8000 from a jeep owner who was transporting audio cassettes without paying octroi.
Patil re-elected
Satara: Bhakajirao Patil was re-elected chairman of Satara District Central Co-operattive Bank, uncontested, yesterday. Dadasaheb Godse was elected vice chairman.
