AIR employees continue strike
The ministerial staff of All India Radio, Civil Construction wing (Civil) and (Electrical) today staged a day-long dharna in front of Akashvani Complex, Sector 34. According to the unit secretary of the Akashvani and Doordarshan Administrative Staff Association, Raj Kumari, the daily office work of all the three wings of All India Radio was totally held up. The demands of the employees include time-bound promotions for LDCs and UDCs, pay parity with programme and engineering staff.
Deputation calls on Rao
A deputation of Footpath Workers Rojgar Bachao Samiti of led by its president Ramesh Kumar met the UT deputy commissioner R.K. Rao and apprised him of their demands. The Samiti, which has on its rolls shoe repairers, barbers and dhobis is demanding conduct of surveys, provision of pucca places of work and issuing of licences to all such workers.
Pensioners Day observed
The members of the Defence Services and Civilian Pensioners Welfare Association today held a meeting to observe "Pensioners Day." According to a press release, delegates from Ambala, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Pathankot, Dehradun and Chandigarh who attended the meeting adopted a resolution in support of their demands, which include provision of medical facilities to the pensioners in the northern region and opening of CGHS dispensary at Chandigarh.
Affiliation of body ceases
The affiliation of the Chandigarh branch of Divine Life Society in Sector 23 has ceased. A press statement issued by the Society head office said that at present no person was authorised to carry any activity on the behalf of the Society in the city.
