Assurance hailed
The Joint Action Committee of Municipal Corporation of Employees and Workers, Chandigarh, has welcomed the reported assurance by the Union Minister for Home Affairs that employees and workers transferred to the Municipal Corporation, will be treated as on deputation.

Fashion show held
A local clothier, Roop Creations, held a fashion show, Akriti at Tagore Theatre here today. The show included the usual rounds — ethnic, Punjabi, sari, evening gown and western — as well as three off-beat rounds: "message", "masti" and "wild". Sandeep Bawa choreographed the show in which 0 professional models from the region participated.

Bill welcomed
The Punjabi Istri Sabha has welcomed the introduction of the Constitution Amendment Bill seeking 33 per cent reservation for women in the lower House of Parliament and state Assemblies.President of the Sabha Oshima Raikhy has said the Bill is a first step towards realisation of the women’s struggle towards equal status.

Students meet Prasad
A group of 40 Naga students and teachers from Holy Care School, Phek in Nagaland today called on Haryana Governor Mahabir Prasad at Raj Bhawan here. The students of classes VIII to X and drawn from several Naga tribes, are currently touring Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Agra as a part of the 14-day N-E Students Cultural Exchange Programme.
