MUMBAI, July 23: The Independent MLAs supporting the Shiv Sena-BJP government today submitted a memorandum to the state governor, pledging continuation of their support to the minority government.
A delegation of 25 MLAs met Dr P C Alexander late this evening with a view to putting to rest speculations about their support. The memorandum was signed by 40 MLAs.
In the memorandum, the MLAs denounced the desecration of Dr Ambedkar’s statue, subsequent police firing and attack on the houses of leaders of the opposition, but expressed satisfaction over the government’s working.
Claiming that the opposition was spoiling the political atmosphere in the state, the independents denounced its demand for dismissal of the government. The situation in the state did not warrant dismissal of the government, they said.
