Aarthie catches up with Saheli

World under-18 champion Aarthie Ramaswamy of Tamil Nadu defeated Baisakhi Das to join Saheli Dhar-Barua (Eastern Railway) in the lead with six points at the end of seventh round of the 26th National B Women’s Chess Championship on Friday.

Four for Dhaka
MUMBAI:
The Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) has assigned four Indians, including Nitin Kannamwar of Mumbai, as chair umpires for the Bangladesh men’s Futures tennis (F-1 and F-2) to be held at Rajashahi and Dhaka from November 22 to December 5.
The other three — Praveen Kumar, Birbal Wadhera (both Chandigarh) and Sheetal Iyer of Pune — passed the ITF Level 2 course and examination held here recently and have white badges.

State in final
DHULE:
Karnataka and Maharashtra men’s and women’s teams stormed into the finals of the 35th Senior National kho kho championship. Maharashtra defeated Andhra Pradesh by 11 points and a turn while Karnataka sidelined Madhya Bharat by seven points and a turn in the semi-finals.
Karnataka women beat Madhya Pradesh by three points and a turn while Maharashtra pipped Madhya Bharat by two points.

Bagan in semis
CALCUTTA:
Mohun Bagan and Tollygunge Agragami sailed into the last four, beating Pakhtakor Club andMohammedan Sporting 2-1 in Group A league matches of the IFA Shield football.
Samuel Omollo and Hari Khadka scored for Bagan while Bezdenejnik German netted for the Uzbeks. Nigerian Awoyimi Isiaka and Aslam Parvez scored for Agragami while Moses Owira put it the consolation goal for Sporting.

Bronze for women
CHANDIGARH:
Hosts Punjab and Madhya Pradesh won the boys and girls titles respectively in the 26th Sub-junior National basketball championships at Anandpur Sahib.
Results: Boys (final): Punjab 58 (Karan 13, Mandip 14) bt Rajasthan 42 (B Singh 14, Bhagwan 8) HT 24-21 (3rd place): AP bt Maharashtra 61-50.

CHANDRAPUR:
Maharashtra girls entered the quarterfinals of the 22nd Sub-junior National volleyball at Chandrapur, acording to information available here. The boys failed to qualify.
