CALCUTTA: In a bid to check the unorganised mushrooming of cricket coaching centres in and around Calcutta, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has decided to give them recognition. The proposal was put forward by the CAB president Jagmohan Dalmiya at the Annual General Body meeting last week.

About 10,000 youngsters are enrolled in these coaching centres. Although such centres have existed in Calcutta since a long time, recently a large number of new ones have come up. This craze for learning cricket is being attributed to Indian cricket sensation Sourav Ganguly’s success in the international arena and ambitious parents who want their sons to emulate the left-handed batsman.
