Indian youth team on Nov 3

MUMBAI: The Indian cricket selection committee, headed by chairman Ajit Wadekar, would meet at the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) here to pick the Board President’s XI and the Indian youth teams on November 3.

The visiting West Indies A team, who arrive here on November 14 for a month-long tour, will play two three-day matches against the Board President’s XI and India youth team before playing two four-day `Test’ matches at Bangalore and Chennai, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The tourists will play the President’s XI at the Brabourne Stadium from November 15 to 17 and then the India youths at Pune from November 20 to 22.

KOCHI: The inaugural Scissors football league kicks off at Kannur on November 20 giving Kerala the distinction of being the first state, after Goa, to have a league of its own. The Scissors football league will be conducted at two venues — Kollam and Kannur.

MiniNationals

VIJAYAWADA: The Mini National badminton championship, which was to be held at Kurnool (AP), has been shifted to Visakhapatnam, according to Badminton Association of India release here. The four-day tourney, which begins on December 7, is organised by Visakhapatnam Port Trust and will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Port Indoor Stadium.

Nat’l athletics

CALCUTTA: The 38th Open National Athletic Championships will be held at the Salt Lake Stadium and Sports Authority of India’s Calcutta centre from November 3 to 5. The meet will also serve as the selection trials for the Bangkok Asian Games.
