Kenya draw
PUNE: The two-day match between Kenya and Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) XI ended in a draw at the Poona Club ground. Kenya made 432-8 in 90 overs. Steve Tikolo (173) and opener Ravindu Shah (103) were the main run-getters.
MCA XI slammed 374-7 in 90 overs. Sanjay Kondhalkar (60 not out), Jaideep Narse (60), Test discard Hrishikesh Kanitkar (56), Shantanu Sugvekar (50) and Kaushik APhale (54) helped the hosts.
Padukone honoured
CALCUTTA: Former badminton ace Prakash Padukone was accorded this year’s PC Chandra Puroshkar for lifetime achievement. The Puroshkar, carrying a cash award of Rs 1 lakh and a citation scroll, was handed over to the nine-time National champion by the West Bengal Governor Viren J Shah at a simple ceremony here.
