MUMBAI: The Mini Rovers Cup football tournament, organised by Western India Football Association at the Cooperage from October 25 to November 7, has drawn 24 teams, including three teams from outside Maharashtra — Calcutta’s Peerless (making their debut here), Marmagoa Port Trust (MPT) and VSL Sports Club (both from Goa). District teams from Sangli, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Pune, Amravati, Yavatmal and Nagpur are also in the fray.
The winners will qualify for the main Bristols Rovers Cup from November 10 to 25. Bank of India (Mumbai) have been given a bye into round four and will start their campaign on November 3.

NEW DELHI: In a thrilling encounter, Indian boys beat United Kingdom (24-22) on their home turf in a handball tournament at Edinburgh today. The team levelled 10-10 at half time. Jamil Ahmad scored half of the goals for India, while Rajkumar netted five goals.

CALCUTTA: The 45th Senior National Kabaddi Championship for men and women will be held at Tirupati in December this year.The Nike Cup International Kabaddi Tournament for men will be held at Calcutta from December 18 to 22.
