India, US conclude talks on 123 agreement

India and the US today concluded their two-day talks on 123 bilateral agreement to operationalise the civil nuclear deal amid indications of the sides making some healthy progress.

India and the US today concluded their two-day talks on 123 bilateral agreement to operationalise the civil nuclear deal amid indications of the sides making some healthy progress.

Sources said India’s doubts on the Hyde Act were clarified by the US officials while the issue of the reprocessing of spent-fuel continues to remain. The doubts over the fuel supply assurances were also addressed by the US side.

The top officials said that the US side have also clarified that the Hyde Act will not have any impact on the strategic programmes of India.

There has also been convergence on the technical languages to be used in the agreement. Sources, however, said since the discussions involving the use of technical and legal languages have to reach a final shape before the finalising of the first draft of the agreement.
