The Depression over north interior Orissa, close to Keonjhargarh, weakened into a well marked low pressure area and lay over north Orissa and neighbourhood last evening. It now lies as a low pressure area over north Chattisgarh and neighbourhood. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid tropospheric levels tilting southwestwards with height.

The axis of the monsoon trough at sea level passes through Phalodi, Nimach, Hoshangabad, centre of the low pressure area, Chandbali and thence southeastwards to east central Bay of Bengal.

The off-shore trough at sea level from Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast Persists. The western disturbance as an upper air system over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir now lies over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood. Systems is likely to move eastnortheastwards. Ther cyclonic circulation over north Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana has become less marked.

Total India: Total rainfall during the past 24 hours at 180 available stations in the plains, out of 291 stations, is 349 cms. Normal for the above 180 stations is 165 cms.

The southwest Monsoon has been vigorous in Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra and active in Assam and Meghalaya, Orissa, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Chattisgarh and coastal Karnataka. It has been subdued in Haryana, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.
