North: Many places in Jammu and Kashmir;a few places in Himachal Pradesh; isolated places in Uttarakhand; mainly dry in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan.

Central: Mainly dry

Peninsula: Many places in south Tamil Nadu, Kerala; a few places in north Tamil Nadu; isolated places in south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka; mainly dry in Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, north interior Karnataka.

Islands: Many places in Lakshadweep; a few places in Andaman and Nicobar.

Temperatures recorded in four metropolitan centres were:

Kolkata: Max 29 (+2) dc/ Min 19 (+4) dc

New Delhi: Max 25 (+1) dc/ Min 12 (+3) dc

Chennai: Max 30 (+2) dc/ Min 23 (+2) dc

Mumbai: Max 34 (+3) dc/ Min 21 (N) dc

The Depression over southwest Bay of Bengal moved westwards and lay centred at 1730 hours IST of Yesterday, the 7th December 2008 within half a degree of Lat. 08.5 degrees North/Long.81.5 degrees East, close to Trincomalle (Sri Lanka). It moved further westwards and weakened into a well marked low pressure area over Sri Lanka and adjoining southwest Bay of bengal at 2030 hours IST of yesterday, the 7th December 2008. It now lies as a low press area over Sri Lanka and neighbourhood Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 3.1 kms a.s.l.

The cyclonic circulation over Lakshadweep – Maldives areas now lies over Lakshadweep and adjoining area and extends upto 0.9 km a.s.l. The trough in mid and upper troposphere westerlies with its axis at 7.6 kms a.s.l. now runs roughly along Long 62.0 degrees East to the north of Lat. 15.0 degrees North. The western disturbance as an upper air system over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir now lies over Jammu and Kashmir and neighbourhood. Above two Systems are likely to move eastnortheastwards.
