Victorian Brad Hodge, who tormented the Indians with a majestic unbeaten century in the three-day game today, was all praise for the visitors saying they had the firepower to give the Australians a run for their money in the upcoming Test series.

“I am actually very impressed with the Indians and feel they would offer the best competition to the Australians than they have faced for a long-long time,” said Hodge who slammed a 228-ball 153, which included 19 fours and one six.

Hodge was very impressed with left-arm seamers, Ashish Nehra and Zaheer Khan, and said they were able to swing it even at the MCG where it normally does not swing after 15-20 overs.

“I am very impressed with Nehra and Zaheer and found them difficult. They were able to swing the ball which doesn’t happen in MCG,” he said.

“Balaji too was impressive and he once hit me hard on the knee.”

Surprisingly, the Victorian batsman also had a word of praise for off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.

“Harbhajan was different and he was able to get spin — again a trait which doesn’t happen here. It was exciting to face up to a bowler of his class,” said Hodge.
