Shroff ousted
MUMBAI: India number two Sarang Shroff lost to defending champion Luke Simmonds of England 0-4 in his last league match from Group C in the World Snooker Championship at Papua New Guinea on Sunday.
The Indian challenge ended with the ouster of Mumbai-based Shroff as National champion Ashok Shandilya had already bowed out of the league stage from Group H on Saturday.
PGA from Nov 25
NEW DELHI: Over 100 professionals and eight amateurs have confirmed their participation in the sixth Honda-Seil-PGA Championship to be held at the Delhi Golf Club from November 25-28. The Pro-Am event will preceed the main event on November 24.
Uttam Singh Mundy, who has won the championship twice, leads the list along with Vivek Bhandari.
Women’s golf
NEW DELHI: Shruti Khanna won the first NGC Ladies Amateur Golf Championship hosted by the ladies section of the Noida Golf Course. Played over 36 holes on November 13 and 14, the tournament saw the top women golfers of the countrycompeting for honours. Parnita Grewal followed Khanna in the meet which also had Anjali Choprra in the fray.
Pondicherry win
CHANDIGARH: Holders Pondicherry recorded their second victory in the LEAGUE stage of the 26th Sub-junior National basketball championships at Anandpur Sahib. They defeated Tripura 48-30 (HT 23-16) in a Group A encounter.

GNDU retain title
KOTTAYAM: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, retained the All-India inter university women football trophy collecting a total of five points from three semi-final league matches today. In the last league match, GNDU drew goalless with LNIPE, Gwalior. They had won their earlier match againstPunjabi University and drew with BRA, Bihar, neither side scoring.
