Indian and Pakistani troops continued to exchange fire along borders in Jammu division since Wednesday evening, official sources said here today.

Pakistani troops targeted Bhawani sector in Rajouri district with mortar shells forcing Indian troops to retaliate, the sources said, adding that the exchange between two sides continued intermittently till this morning without any loss or damage on Indian side.

Small arms fire was exchanged between the two sides also at Narayanpur in Ramgarh sector of Jammu district last night. “However, there was no casualty on our side”, the sources said.

A Junior Commissioned Officer, Subedar Pradeep Thapa, who was injured in Pak troops shelling in Ajote-Digwar area of Poonch district yesterday, succumbed to injuries today, the sources said.

Meanwhile, an Improvised Explosive Device exploded near a foothpath in Kalkar village of Surankote in Poonch district last evening.

However, there was no damage to property or injury to anyone, the sources said.
