Three Indian nationals employed in Qatar have been ‘forced into working in Saudi Arabia’ by their Qatari sponsor, a report has said.

The 21-year-old youth, Mohamed Rasheed, who arrived in Qatari last month is now working in the Saudi desert, according to his uncle, Mohamed Mujeeb, a driver at a Qatari home. Two days earlier there were reports of two other Indians being forcefully taken to Saudi Arabia by their sponsor.

Rasheed’s uncle has brought the incident to the attention of the Indian Embassy.

Mujeeb told the Gulf Times daily that Rasheed was brought into the country, using a visa provided by Sayeed Mohamed, who is said to be known to one of his friends.

The complainant said Mohamed told him that his nephew would be employed as a tanker driver for QR 1,000 by his sponsor on his securing a Qatar driving licence.

“Rasheed arrived in Qatar on November 16 and two days later, he was shifted to his sponsor’s accommodation in Maither. A few days later, Rasheed reportedly called his uncle to inform him that he was working for his sponsor somewhere near the Saudi Arabian border,” the report said.

“Since then the only communication (with his uncle) has been a missed call from Saudi Arabia earlier this month,” it added.
