New Delhi, Aug 10: The annual rate of inflation based on wholesale price index (WPI) fell further to 4.02 per cent during the week ended July 26, coming so close to four per cent mark for the first time ever. Continuing its southward movement, the rate of inflation calculated on a point-to-point basis fell by 0.17 percentage points from 4.19 per cent to the current level of 4.02 per cent. Compared to this, inflation was at 6.31 per cent in the corresponding week last year.Inflation has been coming down drastically in the past few months .Meanwhile, the official WPI for `all commodities’ (base 1981-82=100) rose by 0.2 per cent to 325.9 (provisional) during the week against 325.4 the week before.
