Anil Ambani will have to bring a suitable team in Reliance Infocomm following the settlement in the Reliance group. This is the only major company where management is changing hands. As Anil is already handling Reliance Energy, no changes are expected in the power company.

However, Reliance Capital could see some changes. Mukesh’s associates are expected to resign from RCL. Many of the top officials of Reliance Industries currently on deputation in Reliance Infocomm have decided to pack their bags and return to their parent company.

Presidents Manoj Modi, Kamal Nanavati and V.V. Bhatt are back in their old offices in Maker IV in Nariman Point. More officials of the rank of general managers will follow suit, say sources. Of this, Nanavati already runs the IPCL business and now may look after the petrol pump roll-out by Reliance Industries. Anil Ambani, meanwhile, is expected bring in his own team from Reliance Energy to run the Infocomm business, besides hiring from the market. Feelers have been sent to many top officials in Hutch and Airtel to join the Reliance Infocomm business.

Sources say Anil will also retain the middle management of Infocomm who are currently running the company’s operations. Reliance Infocomm had a 20-member central management team of the rank of president, which was looking after the day-to-day functioning of the company. This team was reporting directly to Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries group.

With the change at the top, few more fresh faces are expected to join at the central management team.

Satish Seth, Anil’s Man Friday in Reliance Energy, is also playing an important role in hiring for the Infocomm initiative. Some of the top officials from Reliance Energy are expected to be deputed to Reliance Infocomm to support the management team.
