Infosys Technologies Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chandigarh Administration on for the allotment of 20 acres land, that would be the anchor company of the Chandigarh Technology Park. As per the agreement, Infosys would set up a Rs 100 crore software development centre at the Park in the next five years and would provide employment to about 2,500 professionals. In the first phase, Infosys would invest Rs 30 crore and employ 600 professionals. This would be the first large Campus to be set up by Infosys in North India.

The agreement was signed by Karan Avtar Singh, secretary (IT), Chandhigarh Administration and H.R.Binod, associate vice president (commercial and facilities) Infosys Technologies.

Speaking on the occasion, Jacob said that Chandigarh is fast emerging as the technology hub of North India. The advent of Infosys would provide high quality employment to the young professionals of the region. He said that the Park would provide state of the art infrastructure to IT and IT-enabled services companies to set up their facilities.
