A confident, but cautious Inzamam-ul Haq expressed hope that his team would continue the good show in the one-dayers against India which starts off at Kochi on Saturday.

The Pakistan captain said that the team didn’t enjoy any particular edge over India having beaten them in their last four meetings. “We don’t enjoy any particular advantage. It’s a new series and we’ll have to play really well to clinch it. The team morale is high after the Bangalore Test win. However, the one-dayers are different.”

Inzi made it clear that though Shoaib Malik kept wickets in the practice match against India A at Hyderabad, Kamran Akaml will don the gloves at Kochi. He added that the all-rounders play a very important role in the shorter version of the game. “All-rounders are crucial in One-dayers. But it all comes down to whether they can perform on the D-day.”

Inzmam admitted that his deputy Younis Khan, who is down with a fever won’t play tomorrow. “Younis is not feeling well. He’s a tremendous batsman and a brilliant fielder. Naturally, his absence is a big flow for us. I hope the rest of the team can make up for him.”

Inzi said that the final eleven was not decided, though he gave a hint that Pakistan are likely to go in with two seamers. “The conditions out here are hot and humid. Generally when it’s so hot the wickets are not ideal for fast bowlers.”
