The IT and the BPO sector made alternative arrangements on Monday to avoid taking a hit due to the bandh observed in Karnataka on the Cauvery issue. IT companies, including Infosys and Wipro, and MNCs like IBM declared a holiday for their staff on Monday, and asked them to report for work on Saturday to compensate. BPO firms either rescheduled the shift timings of their employees or transferred operations to other centres as part of their business continuity plan that saw to it that it was like any other day. “We knew about the bandh well in advance. So, we made alternative arrangements,” IT industry officials said.
