S M KRISHNA

Karnataka Chief Minister

Information technology companies are not the only ones following the 365x24x7 schedule. The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited functions with 90 per cent capacity. We have set up a task force headed by the chief secretary to put in place measures to improve infrastructure and the power situation along Sarjapur Road. The task force’s measures will be visible within the next few weeks. It will also apply its mind to what has been said (by Premji), besides examining the lack of infrastructure, mostly in the areas on the city’s periphery.

While admitting that resource crunches often come in the way of development, I will not be apologetic. The state and central governments exist to take care of the rural areas. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that the state’s focus has shifted from the urban centres to the rural areas.
