The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) is set for a player makeover next season to go with the new coach. Three stars of the domestic circuit are believed to be on their way in: From Delhi, Ajay Jadeja — who may even be appointed captain — and from Mumbai, leg-spinner Sairaj Bahutule and left-arm spinner Nilesh Kulkarni.

If the MCA pulls off this coup, it will be put down to the players’ keenness on working with new coach Darren Holder and the expected large pay packet.

Highly placed sources in the MCA told The Indian Express that Jadeja, a former India vice-captain, had expressed his intentions to make the switch. Jadeja had also told this paper some days ago that he was not interested in playing for Delhi any more because of internal politics.

When contacted by this paper, Bahutule refrained from commenting on the news but did not deny it either. ‘‘I don’t want to say anything on it right now. I don’t know what could be in store but I shall let you know if there is anything,’’ he said.

Kulkarni who is currently in England, said that he had not given it much thought yet.

MCA sources said that the association was looking ahead to including a few big names in the team to attract more sponsors and glamour.

Maharashtra are currently in the Elite Division but have failed to make any impression after claiming the Plate Division Championship, the season before last.
