Author J.K.Rowling (37), has given birth to her second child, a baby boy, a spokeswoman for the millionaire writer has said. ‘‘Both mother and baby are doing well,’’ Rowling’s publicist Nicky Stonehill yesterday announced, a day after David’s birth at Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary. Stonehill would not give any further details, but confirmed Rowling and the baby — her first with her second husband Neil Murray, 31, — had been released from hospital.

Rowling’s four Potter books have sold over 100 million copies, and the film of her first novel broke box-office records worldwide. Rowling’s eagerly awaited fifth novel, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, will be published on June 21. She plans to write two more after that to conclude the saga.
