It’s good Monika was caught in India itself: Kalmadi

Suresh Kalmadi praised SAI for acting in time to prevent Monika Devi from arriving in Olympic Games Village.

Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi praised the Sports Authority of India for acting in time to prevent a dope-tainted weightlifter Monika Devi from arriving in the Olympic Games Village.

“As far as doping is concerned, it should not happen but it’s good that they have caught her in India itself so the person won’t come here and it’s a job well done,” Kalmadi said.

Monika, India’s lone representation in weightlifting, was pulled out of the Indian squad for Olympic Games on Tuesday night for testing positive for an anabolic salt in a dope test conducted by the Sports Authority of India on June 29.
