While the J-K police have successfully solved two recent bank dacoities here, equally shocking is the fact that among the accused are BSF sources and also a surrendered militant. Police sources revealed that Nisar Ahmad Ahangar of Vicharnag, Nowshehra, Ajaz Ahmad Khan and Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan of Hakabazaar were caught and their fourth associate Rais Ahmad Bhat was arrested in Delhi. Police have also launched a manhunt for Farooq Mir — a surrendered militant of Al Jehad group — and one Mohammad Afzal Beigh of Kishtwar. While BSF officers were not willing to comment, sources said that identity cards issued by the BSF were recovered from the arrested four. Two pistols were also recovered from them. The first robbery took place on July, 4, 2002, when a group of masked men stormed J&K Bank at Bohrikadal and looted it at gun-point. Robbers struck again on November, 5, 2002, and looted UCO bank at Maharajganj.Sources revealed that once police got wind of the involvement of BSF sources in the bank robberies, they contacted the officers of the G-branch here. ‘‘The suspect was produced before police for interrogation when he exposed the entire ring which led to the other arrests,’’ a source said.Srinagar has witnessed a series of dacoities in the past months. Police are still clueless regarding a bank robbery last week when 21 lockers of J&K Bank were looted. A senior police officer investigating the case said: ‘‘These sources are turning to be a big headache for us. They can move around freely during the night and have proper identity cards issued by the security agencies so it is difficult to keep a check on them.’’
