NEW DELHI, December 6: Jagdish of Ministry of Power bowled an excellent spell (7.2-2-21-7) to help his team beat Rural Electricity Corporation by 129 runs in the sixth inter-Central Power Sector Undertaking cricket tournament at NTPC, Dadri here today.

In another match, Damodar Valley Corporation beat Central Electricity Authority by 45 runs. S Singh hit 84 for the winners.

In the third match of the tournament, NTPC beat NHPC by 58 runs.

The tournament was inaugurated by Union Power Minister P R Kumaramangalam. The Power sector teams participating in the tournament are BBMB, CEA, DDVC, MOP, NHPC, NTPC, NEEPC, PGCIL, REC, THDC and NJPL. The matches are being played on league basis.

NTPC: 160 in 37.2 overs (Rajkumar 34, P Das 32, S Deodhar 18).
NHPC: 102 in 30.3 overs (M K Chauhan 3 for 18).
Ministry of Power: 213 in 40 overs (Sarvesh Kumar 73, N Ramesh 31, Dinesh Kumar 23, P S Raghuvanshi 23).
REC: 84 all out in 20.2 overs (Jagdish 7 for 21).
Damodar Valley Corporation: 213 in 40 overs (S Singh 84, S Mukherjee 34).
Central Electricity Authority: 168 for 9 in 40 overs (Raju Bagga 50, Khalidi 36, Sumit 21).

Navyug excels
Vinita Baloni of NDMC Navyug School, Sarojini Nagar, bagged the first position in 400 metres and third position in 800 metres in the junior section of the thoird North Zone CBSE athletics meet held in Ludhiana recently. Prashant Sharma bagged second position in 5,000m while Ramesh was fourth in long jump.
