
NEW DELHI, Nov 17: Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh was conferred the Dayawati Modi Foundation Award for art, culture and education on Wednesday. The award was given by Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Sharad Yadav, at the FICCI auditorium. The award carries a scroll of honour, a shield and Rs 2.51 lakh.
The award has been given to Mother Teresa, Pandit Jasraj, Amitabh Bachchan and Ravi Paranjape earlier. The annual award was instituted in 1994 by the Modi Group in memory of its founder Gujar Mal Modi’s wife Dayawati Modi.
