Vijit Singh, a member of the erstwhile Jaipur royal family, is suspected to have been “very drunk” when a car he was driving allegedly hit a group of five girls in Jaipur last month killing one of them.

Police on Friday said that Singh’s medical report “substantiates” the claim made by the witnesses on his state at the time of the mishap.

The “medical report will supplement the testimony given by the main witnesses. They had testified that Vijit was so drunk that he could not even walk properly.

“Now this report substantiates their testimony that he was very drunk and certainly in no shape to drive,” alleged Mohan Singh, Superintendent of Police, Jaipur.

Police has alleged that Singh, who was at the wheels of the car, had hit the group of girls on an educational tour in Jaipur from Kota on December 15 while they were crossing the Tonk road besides another vehicle. He was arrested and was later released on bail by the traffic police.

A case under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) and other provisions of the IPC has been registered against him.
