  • AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha has questioned the appointment of Justice P R Gokulakrishnan as the one-man judicial commission to probe the recent serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore and related incidents, doubting the retired judge’s ability to give an impartial report on the incidents.
  • In a statement on Wednesday, Jayalalitha, claimed that the public was of the opinion that Gokulakrishnan, whom she described as a close friend of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, would “not establish the whole truth” in connection with the incidents. She demanded that Gokulakrishnan, a retired Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, be taken off the assignment and an "impartial" judge be appointed in his place.

She pointed out that she had opposed the institution of a commission headed by Gokulakrishnan to probe the November-end communal backlash in Coimbatore and had even then demanded that another judge be appointed in his place.
