Jeev Milkha Singh finished tied 26th at the rain-reduced Telecom Italia Open, with a disappointing even par third round to end with a 10-under 206.

He started the final round with a birdie on the first hole, but set that back with a bogey at the very next. However, the front nine saw him making two more birdies — on the fourth and the ninth — to be two-under at the turn. But the back nine marred his card and any hopes of the title, with two bogeys on the 11th and the 15th.

He had earlier risen hopes of a contention for the title with a brilliant seven-under 65 in the the second round, which saw him rise to the tied seventh spot.

Atwal erratic

Fort Smith: Arjun Atwal returned an erratic one-under 69 but still managed to move up, rising four places to tied 46th with a three-round total to four-under 206, at the US Nationwide Tour’s $525,000 Fort Smith Classic here.

Johl finishes 72nd

Seoul: Amandeep Johl ended a rather forgettable weekend with a final round of six-over 78 that saw him finish tied 72nd at the $600,000 GS Caltex Maekyung Open here today. Johl, the only Indian in the weekend rounds, totalled 15-over 303.
