Jeev Milkha Singh made good use of the ideal conditions as he shot a sensational five-under 67 to move within an arm’s length of a top-10 finish at the prestigious BMW PGA Championships at Wentworth, England, today.
The 2006 Asia No. 1, who was in danger of missing the cut after his first round of five-over 77, has made the right moves in second and third round.
Marcus Fraser was leading the field at nine-under 10 holes in the third round. The clubhouse leaders were Anders Hansen (67) and Markus Brier (70).
Jeev and three others were next at three-under 213. Jeev was tied 13th though a few more players were yet to finish their round.
While Jeev was making a dramatic move upwards, his two compatriots Jyoti Randhawa and Shiv Kapur were spiralling downwards. Randhawa (76) had slid to tied 52nd after being seventh after first round and 27th after second. Kapur, fifth after first round and seventh after second, was also tied 52nd, as he was nine-over after 12 holes.
On Saturday, Jeev playing early had six birdies and one bogey.
Gangjee moves up
Seoul: Rahil Gangjee brought the lone good news from the Indian camp as he moved up to tied 28th spot with an even par round of 72 on the third day of the SK Telecom Open here today. Gaurav Ghei, SSP Chowrasia and Amandeep Johl slipped. Ghei shot a four-over 76 and slipped to 48th, from overnight 28th, while Johl (75) also slipped to 48th from 35th. SSP (76) was tied 58th, after being 61st overnight.
Atwal makes cut
Mitchville: Arjun Atwal made a big jump upward as he carded a fine three-under 69 that saw him leap to tied 37th place and ensure weekend play at the Melwood Prince George’s Country Open.
