JAMMU, April 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to lift the ban on private practice by doctors with certain restrictions.

Those holding administrative assignments would be barred from private practice. While principals, medical superintendents, deputy medical superintendents, registrars, tutors, house surgeons and resident medical officers in medical colleges have been allowed private practice, directors of health services, deputy directors of health, chief medical officers and block medical officers have been barred from the same. The barred doctors will be given an enhanced rate of non-practising allowance at the rate of 25 per cent of their basic pay.
