In a major boost to the aviation sector, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi on Saturday announced to reduce the sales tax on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to 4 per cent from the present level of 20 per cent in response to the request made by the airlines industry.

Also in a bid to promote tourism, the State government has declared tax holidays (luxury tax, sales tax and entertainment tax) of ten years for all new hotel projects, amusement parks, recreation facilities, convention centres and other tourism-related projects proposed to be set-up with an investment of Rs 50 lakh and above.

Addressing a conference on ‘Chhattisgarh : The Emerging Tourism Destination’ organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in the Capital, Jogi said the State government is in the process of rationalising motor vehicle tax on tourist coaches.

He announced the formation of Tourism Promotion Council at the state level with tourism experts, the government and PHDCCI as members.
