Even as the Pranab Mukherjee panel report fans more doubts about the revocation of his suspension order, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi today claimed that the Congress cannot write him off so easily. Jogi addressed a press conference at his official residence, which had been raided by the CBI two weeks ago, and sent out clear signals that he was ready for a fresh political innings, both inside and outside the Congress.

He not only spoke of forming a secular front under Congress president Sonia Gandhi but also of leading the party’s campaign in states like Jharkhand, Orissa and Bihar during the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. Even though only one Congress MLA, Shiv Dehria, has turned to him so far, Jogi insisted that the party’s legislators are with him. ‘‘Suspension doesn’t mean I am out of the Congress. I am very much in the Congress and will continue to work for the party as I always did,’’ Jogi said. He reposed full faith in Sonia Gandhi and hoped she will do justice to him.

He also admitted that he had committed a mistake by passing on a letter of support to former BJP MLA Virender Pandey, who claimed to have led the sting operation against Jogi. ‘‘This was my only mistake that I gave a letter of support. Prior permission of the party high command is mandatory for doing so,’’ he said.
