Junior acharya gets bail

The Madras High Court on Thursday granted bail to junior seer Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswati, citing insufficient evidence to prove his involvement in the conspiracy to eliminate temple manager Sankararaman.

‘‘In the absence of clear material to prove the meeting of minds between the conspirators, it may not be possible to say even prima facie that this petitioner was party to the conspiracy,’’ Justice M. Thanikachalam said. ‘‘It could be said that he obeyed the directions of his senior…was bound to carry out the instructions without any intention’’.
