LUCKNOW, DEC 28: The Kalyan Singh Government in Uttar Pradesh, which completed 100 days in power today, has so far concentrated its attention on ``exposing'' corruption cases that were allegedly carried out during the tenure of former chief minister Mayawati.Soon after assuming power on September 21, Kalyan ordered a probe into a Rs 500-crore land scam in Greater Noida. Kalyan has alleged Mayawati's hand behind the scam. Nearly 700 acres of land meant for setting up industrial units and offices was given to private parties for residential purpose in Greater Noida during Mayawati's tenure. Another CBI inquiry was ordered into the purchase of float pumps by the Uttar Pradesh police at exorbitant prices. Each pump worth Rs 60,000 was purchased at Rs 2.49 lakh to reportedly favour the chief of the BSP's Tamil Nadu unit. A payment of Rs 1 crore was made by the then Mayawati Government. However, Kalyan has stopped further payment which amounts to nearly Rs 1.49 crore.``We are of the view that the developmental process will not bear fruit as long as corruption is prevalent,'' Kalyan had said during his much-hyped crusade against corruption which later turned into a ``expose Mayawati and her ministers'' campaign. However, his refusal to take action against three IAS officers identified as most corrupt by their colleagues, on the grounds that the charges had to be backed by evidence, has invited criticism. ``This exposes his double standards on corruption. While the alleged cases involving Mayawati and former ministers are being targeted, no action was taken against corrupt officials and BJP ministers,'' said a senior BSP leader. Kalyan has also requested the Comptroller and Auditor General to probe into alleged financial irregularities in the construction of Mayawati's dream project, the Ambedkar Park. The construction of the park which was being undertaken at a fast pace during Mayawati's tenure, has been stopped by her successor.Orders are also likely to be issued for attachment of the property of Naseemudin Siddique, Mayawati's former minister.
