Emboldened by Kalyan Singh’s own indiscreet utterances, vested interests have scuttled his return to the BJP, at least for the time-being.Sources close to the intermediaries working for the return of the former chief minister told The Indian Express today that they had ‘‘called off the initiative as the entire atmosphere has been vitiated by forces who do not wish to see the BJP retrieve the ground lost by it in Uttar Pradesh.’’They did not rule out the possibility of people close to both sides picking up the thread from where it had been left. Meanwhile, Kalyan Singh today joined the issue with former UP BJP president Kalraj Mishra over the latter’s statement yesterday that ‘‘neither is Kalyan Singh coming (to the BJP) nor are we going to take him.’’
