Kamat advances

August 21: Mumabi suburubs Sunil Kamat won a three-game encounter against Thane’s Praveen Upadhyay to move into the sub-junior boys’ singles second round in the first Maharashtra State Junior Selection badminton tournament at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium’s Khandu Rangnekar hall, today.

Kamat won 15-9, 13-18, 15-2 and next meets Marrick Gonsalves. Greater Bombay’s Rahul Weling subdued Mumbai Suburban rival Chinmay Kane 15-6, 15-10.In the sub-junior girls’ singles Amodi Boskar (Suburbs), Grishma Deo (Thane) recorded straight-game wins.
